Dr. Faith Agbozo, a public health expert, holds a PhD in Public Health with specializations in Epidemiology and Tropical Obstetrics from the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University in Germany. Her doctoral research titled “Gestational Diabetes Mellitus in Ghana: Validity of Screening Tests, Prevalence, Maternal Risk Factors and Pregnancy Outcomes” was awarded a distinction (summa cum laude). She completed her MPhil degree in Nutrition in December 2012 and a four-year BSc in Family and Consumer Sciences in May 2009 concurrent with a Diploma in Nursing in January 2009 all from the University of Ghana.
In terms of professional qualifications, Dr. Agbozo is a registered general nurse, public health nutritionist and a lactational consultant. She has memberships with over 10 professional associations including the International Epidemiological Association and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World.
Although still building her grantsmanship skills, Dr. Agbozo has so far received four research grants of which she is the lead investigator on two of them funded by the International Union of Nutritional Sciences in March 2020 and the University of Health and Allied Sciences research fund. Also, she is a co-investigator on two on-going projects funded by the German Agency for International Cooperation on “Timely control of COVID-19 in pregnancy, childhood and beyond” and “Improving home-based newborn care” .
Since publishing her first paper in 2016, Dr. Agbozo has to date, 19 full-text publications of which she is the first author on 12. Also, she has 15 published conference abstracts available online as well as six abstracts published in conference proceedings book. Since her first conference presentation at the Africa Nutrition Congress in Bloemfontein South Africa in 2012, Dr. Agbozo has given 18 oral and poster presentations on the international stage.
